Business Banker Spotlight


Hi everyone,


Happy Thursday, I hope you’ve all had a great week so far! 


We are very excited to welcome you to the Business Banker Spotlight Series


The aim of this series is for us to get to know each other better and find out each featured banker’s proudest customer moment.


It’s a great opportunity to participate and share your stories, and each banker will select a bonus fun question at the end for the next banker to answer.

If you could pick the top 3 words to describe you, what would they be?


Bubbly, creative, talkative! 



How long have you been with Business Direct and what are you best known for in the team?


I've been with Business Direct for around 1 year and 3 months now and I'm known for deep and meaningful customer conversations.


You'll notice when I'm laughing and light-heartedly chatting with my customers as they walk through their enquiries, so it's a fun atmosphere when we're all together in the office!



What was your role prior to joining Business Direct?


I was a Business Generalist Banker in the Business Generalist team led by Scott Nugent, helping customers with their ongoing digital banking needs and referrals for new products and lending.



What's your favourite part of your work at Business Direct?


As a Business Premium Banker, I love interacting with customers, understanding their lending needs, and helping them every step of the way through an end-to-end process for a new lending product.


I find the whole process fascinating, from warm customer conversations, to using my analytical brain for serviceability assessments, and using my creative brain to write credit submissions for each business I have the privilege of assisting.



What has been your biggest career milestone as a member of Business Direct?


I was recognised as one of Business Direct's "Customer Care at the Heart" bankers, which made me feel seen for all the efforts I make for my customers.


I truly love assisting my customers and this recognition inspired me to keep doing what I do: connecting with others and helping them achieve their goals as best I can.



What do you do for fun outside of work?


I love music and interior design, so you'll find me singing with headphones on or at a local store picking out dipping bowls and teacups for when guests come around.


I also love to write and put something out into the world once in a while.



What’s your favourite quote or saying?


“Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world”—Roald Dahl, in his book Matilda



What's your proudest customer moment?


I loved meeting a customer who called through for a temporary overdraft and had built a successful career as a tarot card reader; she’s one of the most interesting people I've ever met.


We struck up a great conversation and she explained she was going through a tough time and had to take time off work during this period—for the first time in her entire career.


I could relate to her struggle and promptly submitted her overdraft application which was approved and applied to her business account the same day.


She was so grateful when I contacted her to deliver the good news and, now and again, she’ll approach me for guidance around the bank after the rapport we built that day.


I always love hearing from her, and customers like her make my job ever inspiring and heart­warming when I'm able to make someone's day even a little bit brighter.
